R-Select Band spreads goodwill for Help-Haiti Mission123.

R-Select Kompa Mamba Music Band opened Jwi Lavi W 'Enjoy Life' Island Tour in Cap-Haitien on June 25, 2022.  "We left our studio at Club 89 in Petit-Goave to spread joy and positive energy across the island, and remind those who enjoy life to help others in need" says Manager Ritho Jean Louis "but within two weeks everything was cancelled due to deteriorating economic and social conditions across the country."
"Food and fuel shortages plus violence and general mayhem put 15 musicians, 10-man crew and accompanying artists Temporarily Out of Business.  Now we wait until conditions favor Ayisyen Grace 'Haitian Grace' Foreign Tour kickoff in 2023.  On a personal note I hope you like  new compositions: O Haitian Grace, Haiti Shall Overcome and Donation Blues."    ~Producer Jeff 'VeganMan' Tucker

R-Select Band plans Revivals, Telethons and Tours in 2023

Ritho assembled R-Select Band (RS Band) in the spring of 2021 with Bandleader and virtuoso guitarist- Bigord Celuis,  Lead Singer and Road Manager- Raoul Duperly.  15 musicians and crew of 10 are goodwill Ambassadors for hhMission123.  We call our gigs 'Enjoy Life Revivals' playing to intimate audiences in Byenveni Room @Club89, or an outdoor crowd of 1,000's at Tribute to King Coupe Cloue In The Park[2] last spring.  The point is we combine Haiti's unique music genre and artistic traditions to delight and revive every listener and art lover, young or old.  Special thanks to Albi and Sodepha (Society for the Defense of the Disabled in Ayiti) for wall-painting our facility and exhibiting with us on tour.  On or off the island we seek to galvanize like-minded artists and musicians, thus project our messages to the worldwide Diaspora and Friends of Haiti everywhere.
As we collected instruments and started rehearsals, RS Band began entertaining diners at Restoran Veggie @89 and covering private events.  We retreated to Studio@89 in January to produce 8 original compositions - voila album #1, Change of Attitude.  Looking to Cap Haitien revivals in June we doubled down on fine-tuning individuals into a collaborative groove.   Also, we develop talented amoung 100 Soccer Boys Club and hold weekly music lessons.  Everyone is a volunteer agreeing that 50% of tour proceeds will be donated to our Public Service Module of Help-Haiti Masterplan Humanitarian Initiative.
P.S.  Isn't it remarkable when a nonprofit music collective goes from startup to touring mode in 15 months?

Help-Haiti Mission123 promotes culture exchange and economic opportunity

“Our program provides the youth and adults with opportunities for cultural and aesthetic experiences through active participation in music, enhances their understanding and appreciation of the arts, and fosters interaction between music and the liberal arts”, says Ritho Jean Louis. "We provided mentorship opportunities for youth that demonstrated high musical aptitude."

“Our mission is not limited to entertainment and cultural exchange - it's Therapy - RS Band directly and indirectly helping people overcome psychological effects from the violence and natural disasters in recent years.  Enjoy Life means 'live your best life, keep a positive attitude through tough times, and believe that better days are ahead,” he adds.

[2]King Coupé Cloué

Coupé Cloué is a famous Haitian musician. His band "L'ensemble Select" was very famous in Haiti and all over the world. King Coupe's real name is Jean Gesner Henri, born on May 10, 1925 in the village of Fonbwa in the commune of Leogane. Upon turning 9 years old he moved to Port Au Prince where he attended school at Chez Laroched located in Rue Du Centre. He soon joined "Centre Des Arts et Metiers" a school that specialized in building a strong foundation for young children through the lessons in music. It was here that he learned to play his very first instrument, a trumpet. He also had a passion for success as well and eventually played in organized tournaments through the Haitian soccer federation. Jean Gesner Henri had the ability to cut (Coupe) the velocity of the speedy ball and reduce it to a full stop, and nail it (Cloue) with a super kick right back to the other side. Each time he made this soccer stunt he described it with cabinetry jargon - coupe cloue - learned from school. From humble beginnings, with his talent and creativity, Coupé Cloué applied himself to spreading his unique style of music “Kompa Mamba” to multiple parts of the world.
