R-Select Band entertains and spreads goodwill for Help-Haiti Mission123.

On June 25, 2022 R-Select Kompa Mamba Music Band kicked off Jwi Lavi W 'Enjoy Life' Island Tour to spread joy and positive energy across the island, and remind those who enjoy life to help others in need.  The high-spirited Band left Club 89 in R-Solution Community Center, Petit-Goave to start a series of gigs at GWOG Bar N’ Grill, 90 Boulevard, Cap-Haitien but deteriorating economic and social conditions forced a premature cancellation.

'Enjoy Life Tour' Revivals and 'Haitian Grace Tour' Telethons

R-Select Band was formed by Ritho Jean Louis, President of social service agency R-Solution[1]  Endless rehearsals and studio work @89 led to album #1, entitled Change of Attitude.  As Ambassadors of Help-Haiti Mission123 they deliver music and culture to domestic Haitians via 'Enjoy Life Tour Revivals' and to the diaspora via 'Haitian Grace Tour Revivals and Telethons' in collaboration with like-minded artists and musicians worldwide.

Help-Haiti Mission123 includes culture and economic opportunity

“Our program provides the youth and adults with opportunities for cultural and aesthetic experiences through active participation in music, enhances their understanding and appreciation of the arts, and fosters interaction between music and the liberal arts”, said Ritho Jean Louis, President of R Solution. "We provided mentorship opportunities for youth that demonstrated high musical aptitude."

“Our mission is not just limited to finding aspiring new artists and hidden talents.  We are directly and indirectly helping people that have been psychologically impacted by the violence and devastated by natural disasters in recent years.  Our message urges people to live their best life, keep a positive attitude through tough times, and believe that better times are coming,” he adds.

The R-Select band is busy fine-tuning individual skills, while developing a powerful collaborative groove.  Their music represent traditional, old-style music popularized by artists such as King Coupe Cloue[2].  Songs on the new album are intended to inspire every generation and bring joy and laughter back to Haiti and Haitians abroad.  A recent announcement that 50% of tour proceeds donated to humanitarian works, is great news indeed for sponsor Help Haiti NGO .

[2]King Coupé Cloué

Coupé Cloué is a famous Haitian musician. His band "L'ensemble Select" was very famous in Haiti and all over the world. King Soupe's real name is Jean Gesner Henri. Coupé Cloué was born on May 10, 1925, in the village of Fonbwa, Haiti in the commune of Leogane. Upon turning 9 years old he moved to Port Au Prince where he attended school at Chez Laroched located in Rue Du Centre. He soon joined "Centre Des Arts et Metiers" a school that specialized in building a strong foundation for young children through the lessons in music. It was here that he learned to play his very first instrument, a trumpet. He also had a passion for success as well and eventually played in organized tournaments through the Haitian soccer federation. Jean Gesner Henri had the ability to cut (Coupe) the velocity of the speedy ball and reduce it to a full stop, and nail it (Cloue) with a super kick right back to the other side. Each time he made this soccer stunt he used his cabinetry jargon, which he learned through school, Coupé Cloué to describe it. Coupé Cloué is a well-known artist in Haiti and abroad. From humble beginnings, with his talent and creativity, Coupé Cloué applied himself to spreading his unique style of music “Kompa Mamba” to multiple parts of the world.
